On the occasion of the National Day on 21 July this year, the FPS Chancellery of the Prime Minister, the Ministry of Defence, the FPS Home Affairs, and the Federal and Local Police, in close collaboration with the Syndicat d’initiative Bruxelles Promotion, organise a series of events in Brussels for the general public. The objective is to turn this Belgian National Day into a great popular event, giving all citizens the opportunity to share in a festive moment in the heart of the capital.
On 20 and 21 July 2016, the federal authorities are organising multiple events to celebrate the National Day. The press is invited to a press conference that is taking place coming Monday 4 July, during which the various organisers of the federal authorities will present the programme.
As it does every year, the Royal Palace in Brussels will be opening its doors to the general public over the summer for a new exhibition on the theme of Science and Culture at the Palace. So why not take the chance to look around this fabled location free of charge and learn more about the insect kingdom?
Meet the new King of the Belgians on this extra-special Belgian National Day! You can join in with the festivities on Place du Luxembourg in Brussels, where you can follow all the ceremonies live on a big screen just in front of the European Parliament from 8.30 a.m. to 8.00 p.m.
The final schedule for the ceremonies has now been drawn up, following the latest meeting of the 21 July Task Force.
The OECD’s latest Economic Survey of Belgium, to be published on Tuesday 7 May 2013, looks at the country’s resilience to the global economic crisis and actions that can help it boost growth and create jobs. The Survey outlines potential reforms to improve competitiveness and help secure long-term fiscal sustainability, notably in the health sector, which must adjust to a rapidly ageing population. A special chapter assesses whether the existing transportation infrastructure is sufficient for the anticipated economic and environmental challenges of the future.
